Mindful or Mind-full? Daily Practices to Be More Present

On pandemic day one million, or so it seems, it can be hard to stay present. Being present in the COVID-era means being present from the same at-home office, classroom, and gym. This is no easy demand, the lack of designated spaces for different parts of our lives can make it almost impossible to put your mind to the task. But does this mean we aren’t putting our best selves to the tasks? The distractions and overwhelming circumstances of life in quarantine can start to take its toll on our overall well-being. Are we becoming more mind-full rather than mindful? Urban Body Fix is here to provide some tips to be more present in your daily life!

Cut the Complaining

It can often feel like there’s no good news in the world at the moment, but it’s so important to keep the negativity mindset from creeping in. Complaining doesn’t get any work done and it’s neither productive nor pleasant for the people around you. To be more present in your life, focus on the good in it. Every time you want to complain, try to say one positive thing each morning. Make each day a day to look forward to.

Seek Out the Good

We understand it can be hard to resist the urge to complain, so we don’t give the previous tip lightly. It can be hard to find the good in your personal environment when the outside world seems hopeless at times. You’re not alone in this feeling, several media outlets and individuals have created news programs full of positive news stories. Watch one positive news story a day to start or end your day on a high note. Surrounding yourself with good will give you less time to distract yourself with the bad.

Love Yourself

Our days are so often filled with tasks dedicated to others that we forget to do anything for ourselves. Take a few moments or a couple of hours a day just for you. Whether it’s a specialty latte from your favorite café or an extra sweaty workout, any amount of time set aside for you is time well spent. When you feel better about yourself, you can apply that positivity to all your daily tasks!
