Cut the Cow!: Urban Body Fix Tips for a Plant Based Diet
Going on a plant based diet used to mean lots and lots and lots of tofu, luckily this isn’t the case anymore. The food world has adapted to make the plant based diet what a diet really should be, which is effortless. Switching up meals shouldn’t feel like a chore. Urban Body Fix is here to spill the beans on switching to a plant based diet.
@meals.bymeg showed us that powerhouse breakfasts can come into different shapes and sizes. So instead of loading up on bacon and eggs, opt in for a breakfast salad with black beans or a bowl of protein oats to sweeten up the day. While a traditional breakfast can often hit the spot, an unconventional plant-based breakfast can hit the spot as well. Experiment with different meal ideas to find the plant-based breakfast that is right for you.
If you are deciding to embark on a plant-based diet, there are probably a good number of salads in your future. Salads get a bad rap of being boring and light, but here at Urban Body Fix we know that every salad has the potential to be a great one. To incorporate more protein into your diet, add quinoa or chickpeas. For some crunch, mix in a variety of nuts and seeds. For a variety of taste, try different leafy greens like kale or spinach. Get creative with your salad add-ons.
For quick snacks don’t just opt in for a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts, create a palette masterpiece with fruit slices and your choice of nut butter (seriously, such an underrated combo). Try out an alternative milk yogurt or cheese. Make a hummus and veggie charcuterie board. Whatever snack you decide on, don’t forget to have fun with it.
The plant based world can be a scary one to navigate, but our biggest tip would be to have an open-mind. Your diet should really be an adventure, where trying new recipes and creations happens weekly if not daily. There is a whole new sect of foods made from alternative plants and nuts just waiting to be tried. While tofu is a great alternative option, just know it’s not the only one.
