5 Smoothie Recipes Incorporating Spirulina Powder

Last week we talked about the health benefits spirulina can provide. Why not make it easy and add it to your morning routine? Smoothies are a great way to add in various nutritious powders to help you hit all of your health goals.

Green Spirulina Smoothie

Do you want a simple way to sneak in your greens? If you aren't a super sweet smoothie person, this one's for you. Blend up a frozen banana, 1/2 cup of cucumbers, 1 cup of greens (kale, spinach, romaine), 1 cup of light coconut milk, 1 tsp of spirulina powder, and 1 tsp of protein powder (optional). The majority of sweetness will come from the banana, but you will get a nice fresh flavor from the cucumber.

Blue Spirulina Smoothie

Who doesn't want a bright blue smoothie? Not only will you brighten up your breakfast, but you will also brighten up your mood. Combine and blend 2 tsp spirulina, 1 frozen banana, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 3/4 cup almond milk, and 1/2 cup frozen blueberries. If you want an added crunch, top off with your favorite granola.

Tropical Spirulina Smoothie

Think back to your last tropical vacation. One sip of this smoothie will transport you to that memory. Adding frozen mango to your smoothies will add a fresh and sweet flavor. In a blender, combine 1 cup of frozen mango,1 frozen banana, 1.5 tsp of spirulina, 1.2 cup of almond milk, and 5 fresh strawberries.

Ginger Mango Smoothie

Add a chunk of ginger to your smoothie to spice up your life. Ginger packs a punch and aids digestion too. Combine 2 celery stalks, a ginger chunk and a cup of coconut water in a blender. Once the consistency is juice-like, add in 1/2 cup frozen mango, a handful of spinach, 1 tsp of spirulina and half of a fresh banana. This smoothie will leave you wanting more with its fresh and crisp notes.

Creamy Coconut Spirulina Smoothie

If you want a smoothie that resembles soft serve ice cream, this one's for you. The key to a super creamy smoothie is a ripe avocado. Place 1/2 of an avocado and 6 oz of coconut milk in the blender. Once blended, add in 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries, 1 tsp of spirulina, and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. You may need to spoon out the smoothie from the blender, but once in a cup, top with chia seeds or granola to taste.
