Almonds Aren’t Just for Snacking

Almonds are jam packed with healthy vitamins and nutrients that make them a "must-have" addition to any diet. In addition to snacking recipes on almonds, try these recipes to incorporate them in breakfast, lunch or dinner recipes.

Almond Flour Pancakes

Almonds are versatile and provide many options when it comes to your meals. You can incorporate a store-bought or homemade almond flour to your breakfast for almond-flour pancakes. To make your own almond flour, place 1/4 cups of almonds into a food processor until you reach a flour-like consistency. Almond-flour pancakes only need a few ingredients, such as eggs, water and oil. Add vanilla extract and maple syrup to taste.

Almond Butter Toast

Whether you want to shake up your butter collection or are just not in the mood for peanut butter anymore, almond butter offers a tasty alternative. When shopping for an almond butter, check the nutrition label to ensure that the first ingredient is almonds. Added sugars and preservatives are a red flag. Grab your favorite bread and pop it in the toaster. When lightly browned, spread your almond butter. Add sliced banana and a drizzle of honey to make it extra delicious.

Slivered Almonds

Adding slivered almonds to salads or smoothie bowls will be sure to add a crunch. Slivered almonds pair well with a salad incorporating grilled chicken and fruit. Try adding apples or oranges to your salad; slivered almonds will be a great complement. In addition, if you are craving a smoothie bowl, slivered almonds are perfectly paired with your favorite granola and fruit of your choice.

Almond-Crusted Salmon

Another fabulous thing about almonds is they crisp up to create a delicious crust. An almond crust pairs well with sesame and garlic. Combine in a food processor to create a crunchy layers to your salmon. Roll the salmon in flour first, and then place in the crust mixture and bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. Your will know when your salmon is done by sticking a fork in the middle and watching the filet split in half.
