Back to school: Lunch Ideas Pt. I

Back to school shopping, especially matching lunch box sets, together with my lunch bag and bottle, was one of my favorite things about going back to school when I was a kid. This became even more exciting when I learned about eating healthy and my mother began packing healthier lunch boxes for me instead of just fast food or leftovers. The concept of learning to eat healthy can be introduced to a child gradually by adding raw vegetables and beloved fruits, as well as tangy dressings, to the meal to make it more palatable and healthy. After they've gotten used to eating nutritiously, you may educate them to pack their own lunch, which will help them understand a healthy meal. Organizing and packing lunch is also enjoyable, especially when a sandwich is cut into an animal shape, or a sweet treat is included. However, there are times when we are unsure about what to bring for lunch. As a result, Urban Body Fix is sharing eight healthy lunch box ideas that will make your/your child's lunch more engaging, well-balanced, and enjoyable.

Hummus lunch Box

Hummus, baby carrots, roasted chickpeas, pita bread, and vegetables are among the ingredients. Kids may prefer hummus and baby carrots, but have you tried roasted chickpeas? They're great to eat, and spices can significantly impact a dish or a falafel is even better. Raw carrot sticks are a delicious and healthy way to consume the vegetable. Vitamin and mineral intake can be increased by eating carrot sticks with a variety of dips. Vitamins, minerals, fiber, and protein are abundant in chickpeas and hummus. The majority of their health benefits, which vary from weight management to blood sugar control, are due to these qualities.

Burrito Bowl lunch box

Rice, beans, fresh salsa, sweet potatoes/avocado, as well as some fruits like apple slices and nuts. Starting with my personal favorite, a burrito bowl may be made a day ahead of time by simply cooking rice and beans, chopping vegetables, and preparing salsa. You may play around with this one, changing spices to suit your child's tastes and adding fruits and nuts to make it healthy. Protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats are all well-balanced in this burrito bowl.

PB + J Sandwich lunch box

String cheese, fruit cup, and sweet potato/beet chips on whole wheat toast with peanut butter/almond butter and jelly. This is a simple lunch that can be served on a slow day and is a terrific way to provide high-quality nourishment that keeps children energized throughout the day. And, to top it off, they adore it! Using unsweetened peanut/almond butter, which has no added sugar or fats, is one method to make your lunchbox healthy. Homemade plantain or beet chips are a great side dish option, and string cheese should be unprocessed. And don’t forget to make those smiley shapes. 😊

Pesto pasta lunch box

A simple pasta salad with cooked pesto spaghetti, sliced tomatoes, and roasted broccoli on top may be made fresh in the morning with only a few ingredients. You can also serve berries and chocolate almonds on the side, as well as a handwritten letter, to cheer up your child. Pesto is also high in antioxidants, which can protect your cells from harm. You may add different shapes of pasta to make it more interesting, my favorite being bow ties.
