5 Healthy-ish Holiday Dessert Recipes
It feels like yesterday that the weather was warm and the sun was shining. Now as we enter winter, let’s reign in this holiday season with some delicious treats to get you through. Desserts should never be guilty, so indulge in your favorites with a healthy twist.
Twix Bar
Twix bars are a childhood favorite, and it’s hard to say no. For a healthier twist this holiday season, try this recipe. The shortbread layer consists of coconut flour, almond flour and coconut oil, sweetened with honey. The next layer consists of almond butter, coconut oil, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Whether you are gluten-free or not, almond flour is a great substitute for standard flour. To make these cookies even more decadent, add almond butter for an added moist texture. Add your favorite chocolate chips to finish off your new favorite cookies.
Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars
The combination of coconut sugar, coconut flour and maple syrup make the chocolate-chip aspect of the bars sweet without being overpowering. To make this a cheesecake bar, you need to add your “cheese” aspect, which in this recipe is cream cheese. Pay attention to these in the oven to ensure that you don't overcook them; you want these to stay moist.

If you want to try out a homemade twist, this recipe is for you. You will need peppermint extract, whole wheat flour, coconut sugar and cocoa powder to get this recipe started. These crunchy and chocolatey cookies will satisfy any craving.
Chocolate Covered Rice Krispie Treats
Choose any of your favorite healthy rice krispie cereals as the base for this recipe. You will need peanut butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, coconut oil and chocolate chips. You don’t need too much time for these treats, making it easy to put together a last-minute holiday dessert.
